Submission for the cover of my school's literary magazine. This is the type of style/mood I would like to see on a cover, but I'm betting it's not flashy enough to pass the judge's approval. Oh well, what can you do. I still like it a lot.
I was so worried about the hair...! But it wasn't as hard to do as I thought it would be.
Photo ref used for face.
Micron pens, india ink + brush and gesso on brown paper. The blueish tone was added in photoshop.
I totally agree with you about the magazine; I really like how low-key and sort of... vintagey maybe? a cover like this would be, but I do think they'll probably opt for something more designy and less arty... you know?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
